:-(

Today a man died that was not for sale. He had no price and no one could buy him. He was straight at saying what he meant and he stood for justice by Iranian people.

I am no religious, but I am deeply sad after hearing his death note this morning on the news.

Chand on top :-)

I voted for Chand, first of all because from beginning(first round) he came up with his own song and himself playing on the stage. I also liked him singing in Norwegian instead of English. I have voted for him all the way and I am happy to see him on top. You go Chand :-) Although I should mention I didn't like his Rap style necklaces.

*** I never voted for Shackles because I never ever take part in an action to add one more Britney Spears to the world. I can say one thing though, I liked how they handled their loss at the final round ;-) You go girls, but don't become next Britney Spears :-D

Obama in Oslo !

Well Obama is now in Oslo. He has talked a lot and done a lot as well, but has the changes come yet ? My opinion NOPE, but they are on the way and he is fighting for it, although I can think how hard it is to do things the way people want it and not the politicians on the other side or capital holders ...

IKARIAM

Ikarim is the new game that I have started playing. It is a kind of Civilization/Settlers game which you can play it online in your browser. If anyone wanted to start playing, say it out. You might get help, you might find an ally, or an enemy :-D

They stand, They demand, They stay Green, They do not give up ...

This is really interesting, they don't give up. They are not afraid and they stand for their rights...

Stay green, stay free, we will win this silent battle ...

Greens once again ...

This guy is just getting better and better ...
The most beautiful thing is that, people with different points of views, gather together, not with putting a side their differences but with officially accepting their differences.

Exams finished but I am TIERED :-(

Exams are finished and I am not happy with the result. I worked day and night in the last night and went for an A or B, but I don't think so... The point is not that I want a shining A, the point is I worked hard, but I am not happy now. As Yao said I've done my best. I had 4 exams, 2 of the today. I barley got to sleep these days, even if I wanted to ... It was stress all the way ...
Today the first exam was damn hard and at the 2nd one I was too tiered. I knew the answers to 90% of questions but I could not remember much of what I had read in the last month ... Actually if I had not drank two red bulls I could not even sit on the chair !!!

Anyway, probably I have my bachelor now and now it is over but I hope my grades are good enough to get in to my favorite master program, robotics ...

Who will be the person of the year ?

I am going to take my first exam today in an hour. I am drinking my coffee to wake up. Didn't get much sleep last night !!! Either could not sleep or was dreaming about state machines!!! By the way, something caught my eyes on the news today. The title was about the person of the year of Time magazine, asking "Who Will Be Person of the Year 2009?". Iranian protesters are one of the top candidates of Time beside Barack Obama.

Although I dislike Windows but I agree with Bill on these ...

Bill Gates comments -- make sure your children read this!
This should be posted in all schools and work places

Love him or hate him, he hits the nail on the head with this!
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school.
He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time..

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Civilization 2 & Win 7 !!!

I am officially mad @ Microsoft !!! WTF, I can't even play my dear old Civilization 2 under Windows 7 !!!! What the hell is wrong with you guys ? You think you can stop me from playing it by not supporting it under 7 ??? NOPE. I keep playing it in one way or the other ... YOU WILL SEE :-D

Haha ... just added Civilization 2 page to wikipedia in Persian :-D

Will sure post fixes for it here on my weblog later on ...

For those who do not know what is Civilization 2,

Sid Meier's Civilization II (Civ II or Civ 2) is a turn-based strategy computer game designed by Brian Reynolds, Douglas Caspian-Kaufman and Jeff Briggs. Although it is a sequel to Sid Meier's Civilization, neither Sid Meier nor Bruce Shelley was involved in its development. Civilization II was first released in 1996 for the PC and later ported to the Sony PlayStation.

In 2002 Atari re-released the game for newer operating systems, such as Windows Me and Windows XP.

The Multiplayer Gold Edition was included in the Civilization Chronicles box set released in 2006.

My Life, My Fight ...

Tough days ... just got home from school(12:30). I am quite busy these days with lots of things, beginning from my job at university early in the morning(7:30 a.m. everyday) ends to school and its homeworks up to 7 - 11 p.m. at school. Just imagine that after all these things, when I get home I gotta deal with crappy news from Iran(Military taking over political power and lots of other shits happening) ... Well no kidding this is my life, this my fight and I am gonna fight it :-)

I have wasted enough time, now it is time to fight ... Hopefully I am gonna get my bachelor at informatics this semester(probably Robotics but not 100% sure yet). These days I have handed many exercises for 5 courses that I have. Tonight I had a home exam in C programming and I just handed in the files in the last minutes(11:57).

Tougher days on the way ... I have also applied for a master in informatics and beside it, I would be enjoying a full time job as IT department engineer at university... If you are wondering about how the hell am I gonna combine these two together, I still have no clue ... My fight requires a big plan, which I usually am good at writing it down on a paper but sucks at committing to it ...

Officially me !

Neda, angle of Iran :-(

Sometimes it is hard to talk as you are afraid of the consequences but sometimes it is too much that you want to explode and probably talking or writing is the only way to calm down ...

Last week one I saw one of the worst scenes in my life and at that scene an Iranian girl(which later I found out her name was Neda Agha Soltan) died in front of a camera with open eyes ... Right in front of my eyes and I was following her death(the demonstrations) on Facebook !!! The presidential election in Iran and announcing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the winner(who the day after it called demonstrators pieces of dusts), resulted in biggest oppositions demonstrations in Tehran after revolution in 1979. All these demonstrations were broadly reported by Iranian citizens on Facebook, Twitter and lots of other social networks all around Internet. Result of this was that I saw Neda's last moments with my eyes on Facebook with maybe 1 hour delay from her real last moments, and I couldn't stop crying and neither could my Chinese girl friend :-(

She died as a hero right in the streets of Tehran and became the symbol of Iranian's new green movement toward freedom.

This damn semester ...

I really do have many courses this semester and probably I am going to get very much pressed and stressed all the way. I do have 2 courses left, and then I get my bachelor. Those are INF1040 and INF1060. But concerning I am going to take a master in Robotics(hopefully, not 100% decided yet), I have taken couple of electronics courses which one of them is damn hard ... In addition I took one programming project course that does not have an exam but requires a lot of work and one which is intelligent codes(INF5450, a master course) ... Finally I have one damn image processing course called INF4300, Image analysing, another master course ...

Good luck to myself !!! Anyway I just need to pass two of them to get my bachelor.

By the way today is 09.09.09 :-D

During last 9 days, Iran faced 2 air crisis. Both incidents were Russian planes crashing, once in the middle of the sky and the other one while landing ... This is a cartoon from Iranian newspapers ... Don't get me wrong, there was no resign of any kind ... All those great people in charge who led around 180 Iranians to death are sitting on their seats safe and enjoying their salary ...

Bonyana, the first cloned calf in Iran is born :-)

The cloned calf named "Bonyana," which means foundation and principle, was successfully born through a cesarean section at Royan Institute in central Iranian city of Isfahan after 270 days of pregnancy.
The cloned calf, which is the result of a considerable number of in-vitro fertilizations (IVF) in more than 100 recipient cows, is in good health.

In April, Iran's first cloned goat, named Hanna and also known as R-CAP-C1, was born at the Isfahan campus of the Royan Institute. At that time, the Royan Institute said in a statement that the ultimate goal of Iran's cloning researches was to achieve the technology of producing recombinant drugs.
In 2006, Iran became the first country in the Middle East to announce it had cloned a sheep. The cloned sheep, named Royana.

Persian Gulf not A-R-A-B-I-A-N Gulf !!!

Iranians are signing a petition to stop the world media to use the false name of A-r-a-b-i-a-n gulf who is advertised by rich Arabians in the southern parts of Persian Gulf ... Lately some cheap western politicians have shown interest on using this false name(British Defense minister while giving a report to British parliament about their soldiers entering illegally to Iranian waters and being captured by Iranian armed forces). Iran officially does not reply to letters that call this gulf anything but Persian Gulf.

To: International Media

February 19, 2008

Dear Administrators of Google Earth,

We, the undersigned, through this letter, protest your irresponsible, unscientific actions, and demand an immediate and unconditional deletion of “Arabian Gulf” from Google Earth.

Arbitrarily designating the Persian Gulf as the Arabian Gulf is an irresponsible violation of all historical and International standards and would undermine the integrity of Google Earth.

For the records, the name Persia has always been used to describe the nation of Iran, its people, and its ancient empires since 600 BC. It is derived from the ancient Greek name for Iran's maritime province, called Fars or Pars in modern Persian, Pars in Middle Persian and Pârsa in Old Persian, a word meaning "above reproach.” Persis is the Hellenized form of Pars, and through the Latinized word Persia, the other European nations came to use this word for the region. This area was the core of the original Persian Empire.

Since ancient times almost all foreigners referred to the entire country as Persia until March 21, 1935, when Reza Shah Pahlavi formally asked the international community to call the country Iran — a name that the people of Persia, themselves, used to refer to their country since the Sassanian period. "Iran" means "Land of Aryans". In 1959 some Persian scholars protested to the government that the name change had separated the country from its ancient civilization. Therefore, the late King Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi announced that both Persia and Iran can be used in Western languages.

Without disparaging the Arabs, Iranians are proud of their non-Arab heritage and strongly resent any attempt at denigrating or changing any aspect of their Iranian heritage. And the Persian Gulf occupies a pivotal place in the Iranian history and culture. Furthermore, Iran abuts the Persian Gulf for 2,000 Km, while about a dozen recently-created Arab Sheikhdoms and emirates border the Gulf on the other side.

The historical and geographical name of the Persian Gulf has been endorsed and clarified by the United Nations on many occasions and is in use by the UN, its member states, and all other international agencies worldwide. The last UN Directive confirming the name of the Persian Gulf was (reference ST/CS/SER.A/29/Add.2) on August, 18th 1994.

The worldwide Iranian people are deeply affronted by this arrogant designation of “The Arabian Gulf.” We demand, in the strongest possible terms, that you take immediate steps to restore the rightful name of the Persian Gulf to the waterway on Google Earth and delete any other arbitrary name. We hope that this notice would suffice and obviates the need for litigation.

Sincerely,

To sign :

Iranian presidental election ...

In around one month Iran is going to hold presidential election once again, so the people can choose the 10th president of the Islamic Republic of Iran after the revolution in 1979. This picture shows an Iranian boy crying while talking to the the president Ahmedinejad. This is an advertisement for Iranian president who is also a candidate in this election. This picture tries to show him as a survivor of poor part of Iranian society as he earns most of his votes from poor parts of cities. He is known to be a conservative populist between Iranian polititians.

My comment : To be honest I don't understand the text under it as it is written in Arabic(a sentence from Imam Ali, the first prophet of Shiite Muslims). I should also mention that I do not support him, but I loved this advertisement, as it is a real piece of art. Crying boy, president with noded head, simple clothes, ... Every single element in this photo is shouting out the message to the voters ;-) Nice Design :-)

Iranians complain from Norwegian Royal Embassy in Tehran(Iran)

These days Iranians are gathering signatures from Iranians in Norway to complain from Norwegian Royal Embassy in Tehran. The reason is non friendly behaviors from embassy staffs towards visa applicants and denials of visas according to ridiculous reasons. I did sign this complain from bottom of my heart as I(and most of the Iranians I know here) have had this problem with Norwegian embassy in Tehran. I personally didn't have problem with them but once they throw my fathers folder in front of him and yelled at him. At that time I officially wrote some angry letters and complained to the Norwegian foreign ministry and the embassy actually investigated that case very carefully and I was happy with the result.

BUT the problems still remain. The first reasons is that the people are afraid that a complain might have negative effect on their visa process. The 2nd which is even more important in this case is that most of visa applicants are old people(whose their children are living in Norway) and they are not quite good at computer and Internet and they do not know the way to complain to the higher Norwegian officials directly. Typically when such things happens the same old people try to contact the higher officials who are sitting on the 2nd floor of the Royal embassy by ringing the bell and the Royal response is :

Here is not the VISA department & we are not responsible about such cases !

So this means most of old people do not have a way to complain(or they prefer not too, so they would receive the visa) and the ambassador and the polite NON Iranian staffs can use ALL their time to watch Iranian officials acts and would not need to care about the system under their direct management !!!

When it comes to complains the first feedback to the complains is usually(of course not in a written answer but just orally) :

The people who behaved like that are our local Iranians employees and they are not Norwegians !!!

Well I did my best to understand the concept of this logic but I didn't make it !!! The ambassador in Iran is officially responsible as the top manager of the embassy. Maybe it is a better idea that she/he instead of concentrating all her/his time to jump into other cases(women rights, human rights and etc) which are related to Iranian government behavior, would use a little bit of her time to manage the system under her/his direct management ... The reason that Norwegians had nothing to do with insulting the applicants and those staffs involved are local Iranians sounds like a 100% joke as an answer to a complain.

The mass of people who are not satisfied with the Norwegian embassy in Iran(108 up to when I am writing this post) can bring up the question that why there is no end to these bad behaviors by NON Norwegian members ? Is it a lack of good management or is it a clever policy behind the curtain to prevent some extra works for UDI later(the applicants stay in Norway and deny to go back) ?

The complain letter can be signed in the following link :

Alexander, Eurovision and Arash ;-)

This year was actually the first year that I followed Eurovision and it ended up very intresting ... Alexander from Norway with his ferry tale won with a historic score which was double than Iceland who was on the 2nd step.

The 2nd very intresting point for me was the male singer(Arash) from Azerbayijan who was an Iranian who lives in Sweden and is a Swedish citizen and Azerbayijan became 3rd which is not a bad result after all :-)

My western friend, what would YOU do ?

All countries around Iran are buying more and more weapons ... The third, fourth and fifth weapons importers of the world are our neighbours who either they hate us or they claim some parts of Iran !!! Two of our neighbours are parts of NATO and American army is kind of surrounding us ... and still the world is concerned about our missile program !!! Without our national defensive program we wont stand a chance in front of our dear neighbours. Unfortunately the history brought us a lesson, DO NOT TRUST your neighbours because when you are not strong enough, they're gonna march on your dead body and slave your family and we still have Saddam's memorry in our minds that how he attacked us and bombed our cities with legal and illegal weapons and world just ignored it, with keeping theirs eyes closed...

I wanted to ask a question, My dear western friend, what would you do if you were in our shoes ? Please help me out !!!

You don't get Arabian honor unless ...

Today Iranian media claimed that an ISSF committee that was visiting Iran to investigate Iranian preparation for the next ISSF games in Tehran carried a clear threatening messages from Arabian countries to Iran.

The message was clear. All the maps and games medals should NOT contain the official name of the Gulf(Persian Gulf) between Iran and Arabian world and either should be called Gulf or A-r-a-b-i-a-n Gulf(!!!) which non of them are recognized by U.N. official maps and if not, non of Arabian countries are NOT going to take part in Tehran games.

This made a hell out of the meeting and Iranians official reacted to the illegal, shameful request by Arabian countries. This is an old trick by Arabian dictators to show that they care about their people. The whole trick is to instigate Arabian people against Iran by bringing up false claims, while in their countries dictators rule with corruption and human rights has no place for them specially the women(Women with out right to vote or sometimes driving their own car).

Turkish Kebab @ Tehran

One of the most famous Turkish Kebab shops in Tehran(Neshat). Here are some photos that my brother took from the very famous and delicious foods that they serve there ...

Maybe not everything can be seen here, but every day they make six roles of meat and chicken ... Sometimes even 6 is not enough and you can see them adding more roles during the evening ...
After the meat is done they cut it off the role and then they fry it more with mixture of vegetables which is in a big pan under the roles ... Later they put the mixture of Kebab and fried vegtables in a bauget and will serve it to the customers who are waiting in the long qeue to taste this delicious sandwich.

Iranian next presidental election ...

This is one of the stands at a conference of Iranian president's fans in Iran. As Iran is getting little by little to hold the 10th presidental election in the history of Islamic Republic, president's fan are gathered here to ask Mr. Ahmadi Nejad to register as a candidate. The text on the stand says : A man from the people's kind ... Maybe it needs a little bit explenation beside direct translation. This sentence in Persian means that a man who is not seprate from the simple people, but a part of them and ofcourse it means he stayed one of them even after he was elected the president ...
