Blues are called Esteghlal ( in Persian language means independent ) and Reds are called Perspolis ( Name of ancient Iranian capital located in central Iran ). Perspolis has been officially announced By Asian Football Confederation as having the hugest number of fans in Asia, numbered more than 1 million. As an Iranian I can say there are far more fans for both foes, Esteghlal and Perspolis ... Maybe around 10 years ago if you would ask any Iranian, he/she would answer she is a fan of blues or reds ... Every single Iranian ...
But lately as local teams have became so strong to keep beating capital blues and reds, now locals have a lot of fans as well ... Like Sepahan and Zobahan in Esphahan, Esteghlale Ahvaz, Sanate naft & Foulad in Khozestan, Abou moslem in Mashhad, Malavan in North of Iran , ...

Shahab,
