Wrong direction, Wrong allies ...

I've always said, in Iran, our foreign policy is aiming at the wrong side. We aim toward middle east where my people ( Iranians ) and other people ( Arabic countries ), don't trust each other. We look for allies between those who no matter what we do, at the end of the day, they call us Iranians and look down on us.
In the last 20 years we have supported Iraqi political oppositions ( from Kurds to Shiite Arabs and from political credits to money and weapons ) against Saddam Hussein. Now that Saddam is gone and they have power, they sent a message to U.A.E yesterday supporting their claims on 3 Iranian islands in Persian gulf !!!
I don't blame Arabs for this to be honest. We were the first country that opened our embassy in Baghdad after Saddam's fall while U.A.E still refuse to open its embassy in Baghdad. But the fact is we are IRANIANS and they are ARABS ! This is once again an alarm for Iranian authorities, about finding trustable allies between Arabian countries !

The fact is that I believe we should seek allies locally in other directions. Afghanistan and Tajikistan with huge amount of language and cultural ties are perfect candidates in the first place. After it comes countries like Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Turkey which we have deep cultural similarities and at least of course I shouldn't forget the rising power of people of Kurds which Iranians and Kurds are more than brothers and we should support them in front of others ... With all do respect for Arabs, I don't mean they are not trustable or something, I just believe lack of trust, at least for the time being, between Iranian and Arabs are so huge that any alliance no matter how much we want looks impossible ...

I believe with this strategy we will have more trustable allies who won't look down at us at least, at the end of the day ...
