historical fact, Persian gulf

29. of April is the "Persian Gulf" day in Iran. This day is named after one of the military operation against Saddam Hussein by the coast of Persian Gulf, when Saddam attacked Iran on September 1980. In this operation the Iranian city of Khuramsharh was freed by Iranian forces.
Iranians are very concerned about the name of Persian gulf and any change in calling the gulf name would result Iranian anger. Yesterday (29. of April, the Persian Gulf day) Iranian students (religious and non religious, which would rarely hold demonstrations together ) held a demonstration ( just students with out any advertising to invite people to join them, that's why the number of people didn't reach thousands ) in front of United Arab Emirates ( U.A.E ) embassy in Tehran to show their anger against :
  • U.A.E's claim for 3 Iranian islands in Persian gulf
  • Calling Persian gulf, Arabic gulf in some Arabian maps* and trying to bribe global institutions to call it Arabic gulf in their Globes against all official U.N. maps which call this gulf as Persian gulf (National Geographic 2004 was a small example** ) .
* : Since the 1960s with the rise of Arab nationalism (Pan-Arabism), starting with Gamal Abdel Nasser's Arab Republic of Egypt, some Arab countries, including the ones bordering the Persian Gulf, have adopted the term "Arabian Gulf" (in Arabic: الخلیج العربي al-khalīj al-ʿarabī) to refer to the waterway.[6] This is controversial and not commonly used outside of the Arab world, nor is it recognized by the United Nations[7][8][9] and other international organizations.

** : the problem in these cases is that when it comes to Printed versions at the end they appologize from Iranians and announce that they will correct it in their next print but the damage is done and all those globes at homes call that gulf Arabian. Exactly this is what Arabs are after with bribing them, just print it once in one version. TO REPEAT THE LIE ENOUGH TIMES TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE TRUTH.

Here comes pictures of the demonstration :
