Oslo incident, I still can not get it ...

I want to start with saying how horrible I feel for the victims and injured ones of both incident, both the bombing and the blind shooting toward all those young politicians who did care about their country and belonged to a party I stand for :-(

When the bomb went off, I was not in Oslo. I was on a trip in Germany & about two hours after explosion I still had no idea what had happend. I got a chance to check Facebook and there it was. Short status updates from friends saying Oslo sentrum has turned to a hell !!! Oslo is the last place on earth that I could think of something like this happening. It's known to be a safe place, where everything is calm, somewhere that a cat stuck on the wall can make it to the news headlines ... This was true up to yesterday when someone went crazy which probably will change lifestyle in Oslo :-(

I am still shocked. I started calling around people to see if they are okay. My girlfriend was one street away from the explosion, my family had plans to eat at a very famous Thai resturaunt there on that day(luckily they cancelled), and one of my best friends was buying food around the corner !!! Actually it was an area that everyone would go alot there. Oslo is like nowhere else, right beside where the government is sitting is one of the crowdest areas of the city for resturaunts and pubs. I really liked this idea that government people are not people out of reach, they are a part of people and they live and rule between people. It seems what lots of other Norwegians and me enjoyed/were proud of, yesterday turned Oslo to a living hell. Although I was not in Oslo but it feels like I felt the waves ... I wish I was there beside my lovedones ...
At the end I want to say two more things, first emphasise agian that my thoughts goes to all victims and those injured in these blind violent attacks. Second that I am proud of the Norwegian primeminister(Jens Stoltenberg). When the country was under frightening shadow of terrorism, while he had no idea from which side the threat is coming from, he said :

Stoltenberg, 22.07.11 : "We will retaliate with more democracy".

I am proud of this man :-) I hope this does increase our security concerns, but does not change the Norwegian lifestyle. A lifestyle based on trust and tolerence :-) He wanted us frightened, but we should stand strong ...

Japan won the women soccer world cup today. Back to 1990's when I was a kid, I remember Iranian national TV buying some Japaneses animations(That series was built in 1986) which encouraged us to play soccer more & more ... Japaneses are known for the ones with plan, well structured enough to implement the plan and also word super hard for it. Here it is 20 years after that. What have they achieved ?

Becoming one of the best Asian men soccer team(Always in top three)
Winning Asian cups 3 times
Attending in soccer world cup both in women and men level
Holding the men soccer world cup ; together with South korea; for the first time in Asia
And now standing on top of the soccer world, at women soccer

I can imagine the day that Japanese men soccer players will also stand there and wave to us, as there has been a very long history in experience and investment in men soccer, so it takes more time for Japanese management, planning and hard work to beat them all, but at the end they will :-)

I like it when hard work fruits and I say congratulation both to Japan and Asia, as this victory brings both soccer worlds to a new level :-)

Today was once again "the anger day" in Iran. Although there were even MORE security forces than the simple people in the streets, still they came and managed to show the dictator that green movement is still alive and do not tolerate their leaders arrest. These Green movement leaders(Mousavi and Karoubi) were earlier under house arrest, but in an unknown date last week, they and their wives were transfered to an unknown place. Today Iranian people came to streets(not only in the capital but almost in all major Iranian cities and also in getthos) to show their respect for those who stand for their rights.
Ironically today was the birthday of Iranian opposition leader Mir-Hossain Mousavi, who is spending today under arrest in an unknown place somewhere in Iran(either with or without his wife). I just wanted to tell him that we do support you Mr. president and happy birthday although we have no idea where you are. We are proud of you, not for your silence in front of political mass murders in early years of revolution, BUT for that you have stood for our rights, our votes and our freedom. We do respect that you do not fear loosing your life in this way.

The story of a killer who mourns for his victim ...

This art student*(at Tehran's art university) was killed by gun shot on 14th of February in Tehran during opposition rally which governments paramilitary did their best to bring violence to it. Now the same people who are the main suspects(as they were carrying warm weapons and were observed shooting toward demonstrators) claim he was killed by the opposition gun fire(simple people can not own guns in Iran, carrying warm weapons is strictly forbidden and can result in death penalty). According to his friends interview with media, Sane has been a Mousavi fan and has been taking part in all rallies against Ahmadinejad after the questionable presidential election.

Our story in Iran is that they kill us and then bury us with their own hands while mourning for us ... Weired, but True :-( ... The story of having no shame whatsoever ... Something that has bothered me my whole life listening to a bunch of shameless people, assuming their audience to be bunch of sheep that can not think !!!

The Iranian government who has been criticizing the Egyptian government for mistreating the oppositions in the last week, now has to face the accusation of killing protesters in Tehran by their paramilitary forces direct gunshot. Eye witnesses claim they have seen paramilitary forces on motorcycle who fired at him.

Day of Anger, Valentine style ...

The whole day today I have been very nervous, not because of valentine, but because of a planned rally by Iranian Greens in support of protesters in Egypt and Tunisia. I actually did not have any hope to see people again in the streets after one year silence of the greens, but it seems I was wrong thanks to our Egyptians freedom fighters. It seems like Greens are inspired from Tunisians and Egyptians protesters who actually did manage to drive away dictators from their countries. It seems today from Iranians young boys and girls up to the elders of the society preferred to spend their valentine on the streets trying to give a lesson to leaders of Iran.

Today on Valentine day Iranians came once again to the streets and tried to show off, and of course Iranian government is no Mubarak(Egyptian ex-president). They do have a very good paramilitary(Basijies) mobilized and ready to bring violence in any non-violent rally against them whereever in Iran. So today Basijies were on call and could not make it to the their valentine dates. They were busy driving with motor cycles to the pavements beating up pedestrians and trying to use the element of fear to drive people away from the streets, but they did not make it. Although because of mass of police and Basijies presence all over the city a huge classic style rally did not take place, but there were reports of anti-governmental gatherings at least all over Tehran and also reports from Isfahan and other major cities. The demonstrations made one key point - the opposition Green Movement is still alive.

According to the interviews of the Mousavi's advisor with different media, Greens leadership was after to use this opportunity to show the current leaders of Iran that they have to sit at the table and negotiate with them and if NOT they have the power to bring people to the streets of at least Tehran and other major cities of Iran.

Ignite Oslo, Rapid Prototyping

On Thursday I hold one of the most difficult presentations of my life. I was representing Robotica Osloensis, a student community which I am deputy chairman of, at Ignite Oslo. I talked about Rapid Prototyping which we use as our main method at Robotica in our projects. Ignite is a style of presentation where participants are given five minutes to speak on a subject accompanied by 20 slides. Each slide is displayed for 15 seconds, and slides are automatically advanced. The Ignite format is similar to Pecha Kucha, which features 20 slides displayed for 20 seconds each.
The Ignite Oslo was a very nice event. They had 5 minutes presentations about different topics(list over topics) which were very interesting. Presentations about art, film making, music composition with applications on iPad, 3D printing, air balloons and fashion, etc. It was pretty stressful when it came to my turn. The whole idea of 15 seconds intervals and having a lot to say about a subject that actually belongs to the nerd world made me very nervous. Thanks to my friends Magnus Lange and Ole Jacob, who helped me both about the content and preparing in advance for the presentation, I was well prepared. Well THEY did it :-) Mubrak has resigned and there are lots of reasons for Egyptians to celebrate now :-) They managed to do show the time-being pharaoh of their live history that there is no more room for a pharaoh in Egyptian history anymore. They did show him that he can not start a kingdom and place his own son after himself. They did go out, bled, beaten and some were even killed, but they did not bow to HIS wills, and there came the time that HE had to resign and leave the seats for a person that is chosen by PEOPLE:-)

But it is not over. Now it is time for the people to be wise and know exactly what they are doing. They DID know what they DID NOT want, but do they know what they actually WANT ? This was Iranians problem in 1979 and more than the generation that did have this dilemma, my generation did face consequences of it in Iran. I hope Egyptians look at us, a live example in the region and do choose their choice wisely. I do not want to accuse Muslim Brotherhood for what they have not done, but I can say I do not like to see that what happened to my generation in my home country happens to next generation of Egyptians. I can say how hard it would be to live under a state that not only would take away your political freedom, but even your social freedom. It is the responsibility of every single Egyptians voters now to choose wisely and feel the responsibility for the tomorrow of their children. A tomorrow that can be a free democratic Egypt or an Egypt under the rules of frozen minds.

Hereby I would like to give my warmest greetings and best wishes to all the brave people of Egypt ... The successful freedom fighters of our region :-)

I am very happy that middle east is finally waking up. I am happy that dictators are shaking in the palaces and I am happier to hear the screams against violence(while the dictators want to lead them to violence). I am happy that people prefer to use the word reform instead of revolution. I am happy that people do not like the smell of blood after revolutions anymore and would prefer let the guy JUST GO(although the temptation of staying at power and make a kingdom with transferring the power to the son is strong) ...

I am happy to see the spark of hope in Egyptian eyes :-)

Although Mubarak did his best to bring violence to the demonstrations by taking a combination of GUNS, KNIVES, and last but not least CAMELS to the Tahrir square. He also copied lessons from Iranian government in killing demonstrators by Police cars. He tried to use the element of fear to frighten the middle class and warn them of the dangers they would face for demanding his resign. But still people are still standing & demanding his resign. In his last statement he is trying a new trick by transferring power to a man who was responsible for all the controlling and prisoning the political activists in the country in recent years which sounds like a JOKE !!! Well it seems one of the richest men of the world, as the rumors says, is not willing to give up easy I guess.

As Wael Ghanem has said to an Iranian opposition news agency(that Egyptians learnt from Iranians and now Iranians should learn from Egyptians while he was having green wristband on), I am happy to see the fruits of Iranians rising against their government(the use of Facebook as a medium to show the real face of Iranian people & also the government) in other countries in the region. Now it is our turn to learn from Egyptians(both oppositions and the generals/soldiers working for revolutionary guard). We are born to learn and we will learn and tomorrow is our turn and we will shape it in our own hands. The opposition groups in Iran has asked for permission to demonstrate in support of people in Egypt and Tunisia(& as usual no reply from the government). May 14th of February be a new start in our journey to democracy in Iran ...

New days, New opportunities :-)

I passed year of 2010 with good and bad memories. Memories of loosing family friends and memories of accomplishing my bachelor, starting my master, getting a full time job, being super active in a student community; which activities are my dreams, and by the way re-taking my driving license with a LOT of stress. I think my dad is kind of sleeping well at nights, knowing he does not need to worry about his youngest son anymore(Hehe, I doubt that :-P)
Anyway, now it is 2011, one more increment in the journey of life, which brings new days & of course new opportunities. Life is too short to be wasted, or as a friend once had written on his Facebook status; too short to pretend. I believe, today is the time to learn something new every single day and accomplish new goals every other day, because tomorrow might be too late, or again as another friend said in her weblog ; "Next 365days improvement before i lose my fight of life". It's time to Plan a head, Work hard, accomplish on an average rate, document it to be useful for others and not to get forgotten through the huge daily pile of information, and at the end of the day to evaluate the day to reach a better accomplishment rate. I can also add at the end that never forget to have fun or you just blow the whole thing ...

Man får vikeplikt for buss : Når bussen skal kjøre ut fra en bussholdeplass der fartsgrensen er 60 km/t eller lavere.

An easy vegetarian food from northern Iran

Today from my Facebook I learn something quite interesting. An easy to make vegetarian food(of course for those vegetarians who eat egg) with fresh garlic leaves & egg. The food is originated from north Iran ans is called Sirabij. The who idea is very easy. Cut the fresh garlic leaves into very small pieces, fry them on a pan. Later set them aside on the pan & add mixed eggs(add as many as you wish, first mix them in a bowl) in the middle also adding salt, pepper and turmeric as much as you like. Mix everything together and fry a little bit more. Your food is ready to be eaten.

سیرابیج برای ۴ تا ۶ نفر ( یک خورش محبوب شمال ایران - گیلان )
مواد لازم
۱- برگ سیر تازه ( شش دسته ) یا ( یک کیلوگرم )
۲- تخم مرغ ( ۵ عدد )
۳- زرد چوبه و نمک و فلفل ( بمقدار کافی)
طرز تهیه
برگ سیر تازه را خوب تمیز کرده و می شوییم و آن را از صافی می گذرانیم تا آبش کاملا گرفته شود. آنگاه برگ سیر را با کارد بطور یکنواخت ریز خرد می کنیم. در تاوه روغن ریخته برگ سیر را کمی سرخ می کنیم و بعد تخم مرغ ها را در ظرفی جداگانه شکسته و با چنگال ، هم می زنیم تا مخلوط شود. سپس برگ سیر ها را در کنار تاوه جمع می کنیم و تخم مرغ های زده شده را در وسط تاوه می ریزیم و کمی نمک و فلفل و زرد چوبه زده اضافه می کنیم و می گذاریم تخم مرغ بسته شود. سپس همه را با هم مخلوط کرده یک تفت دیگر می دهیم تا تخم مرغ با برگ سیر سرخ شود و غذا را از روی آتش برمی داریم. گاهی می توان یک دسته کوچک تره را هم با برگ سیر ریز خرد کرده و با هم سرخ نمود.
توضیح آنکه بوته سیر را در شمال می کارند. وقتی که سبز شد برگ های تازه و تر آن را می برند و از آن برای خورش سیر قلیه و سیرابیج استفاده می کنید. (سیرابیج به معنی سیر سرخ شده است) . نوش جانتان : احمد انصاری گیلانی

Voice of Russia reported that "two Siberian tigers from Russia were presented to Iran Friday. The animals will live in a nature reserve in north Iran. Iranians plan to restore tiger population and Siberian tiger is the closest to the species which got extinct in Iran because of poaching. Russia got two Asian leopards in exchange. They are also endangered. The animals will live in Sochi Zoo."

Iranian environment department has started two new projects which is to bring back to endangered species in the world(extincted inside Iranian borders) to Iran and breed them in large numbers. According to this plan they have exchanged two of the few existing Asian leopards(just in Iran) in the world with two Siberian tigers which genetically are very near to Iranian extincted Caspian tiger. They also have a plan to exchange two more of Iranian(Persian) leopards with two Indian lion which again genetically are almost the same as the old species of Iranian lions in Iran. The two tigers are supposed to be hold in a protected area in north Iran, called Miankale and the female reported to be pregnant. They will be freed after their population reach to 50-60.

The Norway Post : The Consul at the Iranian Embassy in Oslo has resigned from his position in protest against his own government's use of violence against demonstrators last week, in which at least 8 people were killed and many arrested.
The consul, who has worked at the Oslo embassy for three years, is still in Oslo and has not yet contacted Norwegian authorities.
However, in an interview with public broadcaster NRK, he confirms that he has stepped down and that he is considering asking Norwegian authorities for help.
- It was the Iranian authorities' treatment of demonstrators around Christmas which made me realise that my conscience would not allow me to continue in my job, he says to NRK.
Head of the Norwegian-Iranian support committee, Rahman Saki, is concerned about the diplomat's safety: - It will be difficult because he will be severely punished if he returns to Iran. Not only he, but also his family, Saki says.
NRK says a spokesman for the Iranian refused to comment on what he called lies and unconfirmed rumours.

Exams are finished and I am not happy with the result. I worked day and night in the last night and went for an A or B, but I don't think so... The point is not that I want a shining A, the point is I worked hard, but I am not happy now. As Yao said I've done my best. I had 4 exams, 2 of the today. I barley got to sleep these days, even if I wanted to ... It was stress all the way ...
Today the first exam was damn hard and at the 2nd one I was too tiered. I knew the answers to 90% of questions but I could not remember much of what I had read in the last month ... Actually if I had not drank two red bulls I could not even sit on the chair !!!

Anyway, probably I have my bachelor now and now it is over but I hope my grades are good enough to get in to my favorite master program, robotics ...

Why do I write ? Quite strange that I actually feel strange when I get feedback from others on my stuffs !!! Maybe because I don't usually get any feedback :-D well I started writing to express myself. To say out what I think, what I believe and what I mean.

My Life, My Fight ...

Tough days ... just got home from school(12:30). I am quite busy these days with lots of things, beginning from my job at university early in the morning(7:30 a.m. everyday) ends to school and its homeworks up to 7 - 11 p.m. at school. Just imagine that after all these things, when I get home I gotta deal with crappy news from Iran(Military taking over political power and lots of other shits happening) ... Well no kidding this is my life, this my fight and I am gonna fight it :-)

I have wasted enough time, now it is time to fight ... Hopefully I am gonna get my bachelor at informatics this semester(probably Robotics but not 100% sure yet). These days I have handed many exercises for 5 courses that I have. Tonight I had a home exam in C programming and I just handed in the files in the last minutes(11:57).

Tougher days on the way ... I have also applied for a master in informatics and beside it, I would be enjoying a full time job as IT department engineer at university... If you are wondering about how the hell am I gonna combine these two together, I still have no clue ... My fight requires a big plan, which I usually am good at writing it down on a paper but sucks at committing to it ...

Sometimes it is hard to talk as you are afraid of the consequences but sometimes it is too much that you want to explode and probably talking or writing is the only way to calm down ...

Last week one I saw one of the worst scenes in my life and at that scene an Iranian girl(which later I found out her name was Neda Agha Soltan) died in front of a camera with open eyes ... Right in front of my eyes and I was following her death(the demonstrations) on Facebook !!! The presidential election in Iran and announcing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the winner(who the day after it called demonstrators pieces of dusts), resulted in biggest oppositions demonstrations in Tehran after revolution in 1979. All these demonstrations were broadly reported by Iranian citizens on Facebook, Twitter and lots of other social networks all around Internet. Result of this was that I saw Neda's last moments with my eyes on Facebook with maybe 1 hour delay from her real last moments, and I couldn't stop crying and neither could my Chinese girl friend :-(

She died as a hero right in the streets of Tehran and became the symbol of Iranian's new green movement toward freedom.

I really do have many courses this semester and probably I am going to get very much pressed and stressed all the way. I do have 2 courses left, and then I get my bachelor. Those are INF1040 and INF1060. But concerning I am going to take a master in Robotics(hopefully, not 100% decided yet), I have taken couple of electronics courses which one of them is damn hard ... In addition I took one programming project course that does not have an exam but requires a lot of work and one which is intelligent codes(INF5450, a master course) ... Finally I have one damn image processing course called INF4300, Image analysing, another master course ...

Good luck to myself !!! Anyway I just need to pass two of them to get my bachelor.

By the way today is 09.09.09 :-D

During last 9 days, Iran faced 2 air crisis. Both incidents were Russian planes crashing, once in the middle of the sky and the other one while landing ... This is a cartoon from Iranian newspapers ... Don't get me wrong, there was no resign of any kind ... All those great people in charge who led around 180 Iranians to death are sitting on their seats safe and enjoying their salary ...

Bonyana, the first cloned calf in Iran is born :-)

The cloned calf named "Bonyana," which means foundation and principle, was successfully born through a cesarean section at Royan Institute in central Iranian city of Isfahan after 270 days of pregnancy.
The cloned calf, which is the result of a considerable number of in-vitro fertilizations (IVF) in more than 100 recipient cows, is in good health.
In April, Iran's first cloned goat, named Hanna and also known as R-CAP-C1, was born at the Isfahan campus of the Royan Institute.At that time, the Royan Institute said in a statement that the ultimate goal of Iran's cloning researches was to achieve the technology of producing recombinant drugs.
In 2006, Iran became the first country in the Middle East to announce it had cloned a sheep. The cloned sheep, named Royana.

Today I had Object Oriented Programming and Image Processing exam at university of Oslo. Everything was okay with the first one(OOP programming) but I didn't get to take the 2nd one(Image Processing), as I got a headache and couldn't finish my exam. Hopefuly I can re-take it at the end of the summer.

Persian Gulf not A-R-A-B-I-A-N Gulf !!!

Iranians are signing a petition to stop the world media to use the false name of A-r-a-b-i-a-n gulf who is advertised by rich Arabians in the southern parts of Persian Gulf ... Lately some cheap western politicians have shown interest on using this false name(British Defense minister while giving a report to British parliament about their soldiers entering illegally to Iranian waters and being captured by Iranian armed forces). Iran officially does not reply to letters that call this gulf anything but Persian Gulf.

Dear Administrators of Google Earth,

We, the undersigned, through this letter, protest your irresponsible, unscientific actions, and demand an immediate and unconditional deletion of “Arabian Gulf” from Google Earth.

Arbitrarily designating the Persian Gulf as the Arabian Gulf is an irresponsible violation of all historical and International standards and would undermine the integrity of Google Earth.

For the records, the name Persia has always been used to describe the nation of Iran, its people, and its ancient empires since 600 BC. It is derived from the ancient Greek name for Iran's maritime province, called Fars or Pars in modern Persian, Pars in Middle Persian and Pârsa in Old Persian, a word meaning "above reproach.” Persis is the Hellenized form of Pars, and through the Latinized word Persia, the other European nations came to use this word for the region. This area was the core of the original Persian Empire.

Since ancient times almost all foreigners referred to the entire country as Persia until March 21, 1935, when Reza Shah Pahlavi formally asked the international community to call the country Iran — a name that the people of Persia, themselves, used to refer to their country since the Sassanian period. "Iran" means "Land of Aryans". In 1959 some Persian scholars protested to the government that the name change had separated the country from its ancient civilization. Therefore, the late King Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi announced that both Persia and Iran can be used in Western languages.

Without disparaging the Arabs, Iranians are proud of their non-Arab heritage and strongly resent any attempt at denigrating or changing any aspect of their Iranian heritage. And the Persian Gulf occupies a pivotal place in the Iranian history and culture. Furthermore, Iran abuts the Persian Gulf for 2,000 Km, while about a dozen recently-created Arab Sheikhdoms and emirates border the Gulf on the other side.

The historical and geographical name of the Persian Gulf has been endorsed and clarified by the United Nations on many occasions and is in use by the UN, its member states, and all other international agencies worldwide. The last UN Directive confirming the name of the Persian Gulf was (reference ST/CS/SER.A/29/Add.2) on August, 18th 1994.

The worldwide Iranian people are deeply affronted by this arrogant designation of “The Arabian Gulf.” We demand, in the strongest possible terms, that you take immediate steps to restore the rightful name of the Persian Gulf to the waterway on Google Earth and delete any other arbitrary name. We hope that this notice would suffice and obviates the need for litigation.
